Baliati Zamindar's House
In the village of Baliati in Saturia Upazila of Manikganj district, there stands a grand mansion with seven historic buildings. The central block of this landlord's house has been turned into a museum, known as Baliati Palace. This famous mansion has 200 rooms, each showcasing exquisite craftsmanship with lime plaster, wrought iron, and colored tiles. To visit Baliati, you can take a bus from Gabtoli Bus Terminal in Dhaka to Aricha or Manikganj. Alternatively, you can take an S.B Link Paribahan bus from Gabtoli to Saturia and inform the bus supervisor about your destination, and they will drop you off at Baliati Mansion.
Mahera Zamindar's house
Mahera Zamindar's house is located approximately 18 kilometers from Tangail Sadar. the Mahera Zamindar Bari spans eight acres. Alongside glimpses of ancient civilization and heritage, the Mahera Zamindar Bari offers amenities such as a mini-park, aviary, picnic spots, and boat rides. Due to its proximity to the capital, Dhaka, a day trip from the Mahera Zamindar Bari is feasible, starting with a morning journey from Dhaka's Mohakhali Bus Terminal. Buses like Binimoy, Jhotika, and Dhaleshwari ply to Tangail, charging fares ranging from 120 to 160 Taka. Upon reaching the Natyapara Bus Stand, one can use a CNG, rickshaw, or baby taxi to reach the Mahera Bari, now utilized as the Police Training Center.
Nuhashpalli
Located 25 kilometers away from Gazipur district's Sadar, Pirujali Gram in the embrace of Humayun Ahmed's affection is known as Nuhash Palli. The current area of Nuhash Palli is approximately 40 acres. In 1987, Humayun Ahmed began turning his dream into reality on 22 acres of land. Alongside various drama and film shoots, Nuhash Palli has been a significant part of Humayun Ahmed's life. It's a short trip from Dhaka, accessible by buses from Prabartana, Banasree, and others to Hatapara Bus Stand. The bus fare ranges from 50 to 80 Taka. From the Hatapara Bus Stand, one can take a rickshaw or CNG to reach Nuhash Palli. The rickshaw fare is around 50 to 60 Taka, and the CNG fare is around 120 to 150 Taka.
Bangabandhu Safari Park
Bangabandhu Safari Park, situated in Sreepur Upazila, Gazipur, covers a vast area of around 3,690 acres. Inspired by Thailand's Safari World, it started in 2013. The park offers a unique safari experience with tigers, lions, giraffes, zebras, and deer in a natural forest setting. To get there from Dhaka's Mahakhali, take a bus to Sreepur, Bheluka, or Mymensingh, passing through Gazipur Chowrasta. Once you reach Bagher Bazar, a big signboard guides you to the Safari Park. From Bagher Bazar, rickshaws or autorickshaws, costing around 20-40 Taka, can take you to Bangabandhu Safari Park.
Jol o Jongoler Kabbo
Jal O Jongole Kabyo Resort Situated in Tongi, Gazipur, Pilot Bar. It spans 90 acres. This nature-inspired resort blends bamboo and mats to create a serene ambiance. If you want to see a beautiful sunset, this resort is the place to be. It's an affordable and easy day-trip option from Dhaka.
To reach Jal O Jongole Kabyo Resort from Dhaka's Mohakhali Bus Stand, take a bus to Narshingdi or Kaliganj for just 40 Taka. Get off at Pubail College Gate, and then hop on a rickshaw to reach Pilot Bari or Jal O Jongole Kabyo Resort.
Panam Nagar & Bangladesh Folk Art & Crafts Foundation, Sonargoan
Panam Nagar, known as the "Lost City," is in Narayanganj, near Dhaka. Covering about 20 square kilometers, it holds historical importance. Established in the 15th century by Isa Khan, it became the first capital in Sonargaon. In 2006, Panam Nagar was listed among nearly 100 historical structures at risk of destruction by the World Monument Fund. There's also the Sonargaon Folk Arts and Crafts Museum nearby. Both places can be explored in a day. To reach Panam Nagar from Dhaka's Gulistan, take an AC bus to Dewan, Swadesh, or Borak. Get off at Mograpara Chowrasta, costing around 40 to 50 Taka. From there, a 10 to 30 Taka ride in a battery-operated auto-rickshaw or a traditional rickshaw will take you to Panam Nagar.
Shalbon Bihar
Shalban Bihar in Kotbari, Comilla, is one of the ancient landmarks in Bangladesh. In ancient times, this area had Shal and Gajari tree forests, giving the vihara its name. While somewhat smaller than Paharpur Bihar, it's still an interesting place to visit. There are numerous bus services from different places in Dhaka to Comilla. Upon reaching Comilla, head to Tomtom Bridge Bus Stand, and from there, take a CNG to Kotbari. Finally, you can easily reach Shalban Vihara by taking an auto-rickshaw from Kotbari.
